Sometimes I like to dream I'm floating through the clouds, where thoughts become interrupted. I come here to write about them.

Last First Week of School…Ever!

Everyone and their mother has been saying the above sentence all week. But seriously, it’s so surreal. I’ve gone through 15 years of school, and in four months, it’ll all be over—I’ll be thrown out into the real world and have to get a big girl job! Crazy.

Being back in school this week has taught me three things:

1. Freshmen are adorably naive
2. PR and Communications majors/minors have bad reputations for a reason
3. I feel older than 95% of the students at Chapman

Even though I love it at Chapman, I also cannot wait to be done and just move on with my life and career. There are some classes I am more than excited for—Marriage and the Family & PR Campaigns, I’m talking to you!!—but overall, I just want to be working and focus my attention on a career.

It’s scary growing up, but I’m loving it.

It’s been a hell of a summer…

Well, another school year has come and gone. This past semester alone has flown by, and I have grown a lot, learned a lot, and met so many new people.
Working nearly full time at Disneyland, working on campus, being an account executive for Chapman ImPRessions and maintaining a 3.9 GPA as a full time student? Did I have a social life at all? No, not really.
But I reconciled old relationships, fostered new relationships, and have found an overall balance of happiness in my life.
This is going to be the first summer I don’t come home for a prolonged period of time. If I’m lucky, I’ll be able to visit home for two weekends in the next three months. I have never been away from my family and closest friends for so long, and I think this is going to be a huge stepping stone for me toward an independent lifestyle.
In seven months I’ll be done with school forever. How terrifying is that? What am I going to do after? In a perfect world, I’ll work in Disneyland until December, snag a professional internship with Disney that happens to be in Seattle, Redmond or Bellevue (yes, they exist!) in January, and by June, I’ll obtain a full time position with them. The chances of this panning out exactly how I want it to are slim to none, but hey…we’ll see what happens.
Bellevue, I miss you so much. But I think I’m going to spend a little more time down here in California for now.

Almost done packing.

It’s always so bittersweet when I have to leave Washington to go back to California, especially during winter break. After my friends have gone back to school and I’m stuck at home for three weeks doing nothing, patiently waiting for my sister to come home so I can use the car, I’ve started to itch to go back to school. But at the same time, I love the comfort and homeliness of Washington, where my best friends and family are.

Regardless, saying goodbye to my parents and sister tomorrow at the airport will inevitably induce some tears, and I’ll feel a bit melancholy as we take off. But when I land in California, I’ll be greeted by my oldest and best Chapman friend ever, and hopefully he’ll remind me that being in California for only 11 more months won’t be half bad.

ImPRessions, Disney, senior year of college…it all starts in a matter of days!

YEESH! Really?! This is my fall semester GPA? I usually hate when people toot their own horn in regards to their grades, but seriously, this is the best GPA I’ve had since I can’t even remember when. Wahoo! What an awesome way to end 2010 and start 2011.

Only in SoCal can you study outside in 70-degree, sunny blue sky weather in the middle of December for finals.

Well…that statement is a lie, but you sure as hell can’t do this in Seattle! View high resolution
